When Pigs Fly....

I have been married to a man for 15 years, I won't name names, (wouldn't want to embarrass him) and he has never taken me dancing. If you would have asked me when, you know who, was going to take me dancing, I would have answered, like I have for the past 15 years,(Have I mentioned it has been 15 years enough yet?) "When pigs fly". Tonight we went to Angie Smith's 40th birthday party---good food, lots of people, and a D.J.(actually it was Pedro or Pinto as we called him in High School -- and by the way thanks for getting me through 2 years of High School Spanish Pedro!) The kids were dancing soooo cute, Carter, Sierra, and Zoe were really getting down with their bad selves! A good mom would have had her camera, but as I am their mother no such luck. Anyways to make a short story ridiculously long Angie and Maria Allred got Michael out on the dance floor(not so much floor as concrete basketball court)! I about died laughing--apparently there was a good reason we never go dancing! Bless his heart, but he has no funky junk in his trunk! But he danced with all his daughters and he and I kind of danced together (he was holding Sierra I was holding Carter). And on the drive home I swear I saw pigs flying! I, for one, am very glad Angie is 40!! Thanks for the fun party Smith's Zoe wishes she lived at your house!

School's Out

School is out--summer begun.
How will I do it-- I get nothing done.
The children harass me with needs and with fights.
Being patient, and non-violent takes all my might.
Everyone wants food at breakfast and lunch,
but I have big plans of projects, a bunch.
I thought all the time taken by preschool and such,
would come back to bless me this summer so much.
Turns out my time is continually lost,
and if I could relax I'd see the big cost.
For projects no matter how worthy they be,
don't mean alot if Mommy's love they don't see.
Time will march on, children will grow,
summers from now I'll be my own show.
So take a deep breath all you Mother's out there,
school is out now, but will return after fair!

Camp Casey

Michael and Jackson got to spend three days at the famous "Camp Casey" on Whidbey Island. For over a decade now(actually when Grandpa Kent was middle school principal he started the tradition) 6th graders at Royal get to go on a 3 day fieldtrip to Camp Casey. Michael said that on the way to the coast they stopped at Snoqualmie Falls for lunch and they got to hike down to the falls if they chose. One of the boys in Michael's group had never been to the west side of Washington and he kept stopping to look at the
ferns and greenery and the waterfall! Then when they got to the ocean the kid was in heaven! Sounds like they were all pretty good kids and
Michael didn't lose anyones child which is always my fear when he is a chaperone--or scout leader! Sammi and I are up for the trip next year!

Not to brag or anything...

Well, not to brag or anything but my kids have been super busy making me look good. All this happened in the last two weeks. Sammi was Alice and Sierra was the doormouse, a "card", and a dancing flower in the school play "Alice in Wonderland". Carter advanced in Steps Ahead Preschool, pretty good for a kid who wasn't technically a student. Zoe graduated from Steps Ahead, sniff, sniff. We had our end of the school year preschool water party--can you say chilly? And last but not least Jackson ran for ASB treasurer of the Middle School. We had six different "ad" posters and not to brag or anything but they were the best ones I saw! I wish I could figure out how to get them out of Print shop and into my pictures so I could post them all. Somehow I got one to move but I have no idea how I did it and have spent the last lifetime trying to replicate my burst of genius to no avail. Sigh. He ran against a buddy and a fairly popular upper classman (7th grader!) and WON!! In fact his 6th grade class secured Treasurer, Secretary(Seila Jenks), and Vice President(Tanner Christensen) so not too shabby! Sierra was honored in a school awards assembly for her general awesomness and her 97% cumulative math tests average for the year, good at math, must have got it from her mother! Sammi's reading group had a play of which I was mad at myself about, forgot the camera, I hate it when I do that. Then Today I went on the 1st grade field trip with Sierra and 140 1st graders and Michael is currently in Camp Casey with Jackson and all the 6th graders for their 3 day field trip. Tomorrow is Red Rock Olympics that Carter, Zoe and I get to help at and then our Drama club party on Thursday which is also the last day of school. Tonight and every Tuesday and Thursday in June are little league games which, because of my kids age groups, go from 4:45 to about 8:15 everytime. And I am getting harrassed to sub everyday because so many teachers are taking their personal leave days. Then ten minutes ago my sister Heather called to complain(she was just kidding I'm sure!) that I have left the lovely picture of her and Holly up too long and that it was time for a new blog---I don't know what I've been doing but for some reason the blogs just aren't creating themselves!! Hope the end of school brings a little less schedule and a lot more time. Hey, don't smirk, a girl can hope!!
